WPP Media is losing two senior Asia Pacific leaders within the same week, creating a visible leadership transition across its regional and Southeast Asian operations.
Sindhuja Rai, chief client officer for APAC, is set to leave next month after more than three years with the business. Arthur Altounian, who leads Singapore and Malaysia, has also announced his departure after nearly 12 years with the company.
What WPP has confirmed
WPP Media confirmed Rai’s departure and said there is no significant restructure underway as a result. Rai moved into the APAC chief client officer role in June 2025 following the launch of WPP Media and a reshaping of its regional leadership.
Altounian’s exit affects the Singapore and Malaysia business, adding another leadership change in markets that are important to regional client coordination.
Why the timing matters
Senior agency departures can create uncertainty even when a company says no broader restructuring is planned. Regional client leaders often hold relationships that span markets, disciplines and major accounts, while country leaders carry responsibility for local execution and talent.
The overlap therefore puts attention on succession, account continuity and how responsibilities are redistributed while replacements are found.
What clients and staff will watch next
The immediate questions are practical: who takes over the affected responsibilities, whether reporting lines change, and how quickly WPP Media communicates the transition to clients and employees.
The two exits do not by themselves establish a broader organizational shift. WPP’s statement on Rai specifically pushes against that interpretation. The next evidence will come from the appointments and operating structure that follow.
