Channing Tatum returns as Gambit in Dunkin's Avengers: Doomsday campaign

Dunkin has recruited Channing Tatum’s Gambit for a new Marvel Studios campaign, giving the mutant a coffee break before the December 18 release of Avengers: Doomsday. The November 4 launch combines a film-themed commercial with a nationwide menu, collectibles and four restaurant takeovers.

The creative is called MUNCHKIN Incursion. Gambit appears with H.E.R.B.I.E., the Fantastic Four’s robotic companion, in a scene that turns an ordinary Dunkin stop into a collision of Marvel worlds. For Dunkin, the campaign makes a blockbuster crossover something fans can encounter during a routine coffee run.

A superhero coffee run becomes the campaign’s centerpiece

The spot brings back Tatum as Gambit, who reaches for an Iced Captain’ccino while H.E.R.B.I.E. delivers Doomsday and Avenging MUNCHKINS. The gag works because the stakes of the film meet an everyday Dunkin ritual.

Dunkin chief marketing officer Jill Nelson said the collaboration brings Marvel fandom into the brand’s everyday experience, spanning the commercial, restaurant visits, menu and collectibles. The release does not disclose campaign spending or audience performance.

Four restaurants become different Marvel worlds

The campaign moves into physical spaces on November 17 and 18. Los Angeles gets the Fantastic Four at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard and Chicago gets the X-Men at 10 West Chicago Avenue, both from November 17. New York’s 102 Eighth Avenue becomes Avengers-themed on November 18, while a location at 209 North Harvard Street in Allston, Boston, becomes a Doctor Doom takeover that day.

Dunkin says the installations will remain through early December. The split across four teams gives each city a distinct part of the franchise rather than repeating the same set dressing nationwide.

The menu turns character loyalty into an order

Six drinks reference Marvel characters, including the Iced Captain’ccino, the Clobbered Cloud Latte inspired by the Thing, the Wakandan Daydream Refresher, Cyclops-inspired Optic Blast Lemonade and two Doctor Doom-themed drinks.

There are also Doomsday and Avenging donuts, themed MUNCHKINS and merchandise. A Doctor Doom 25-count MUNCHKINS tin is listed at $14.99 with the qualifying purchase, while themed tumblers cost $24.99. Availability is limited and varies by participating restaurant.

Why this is more than a movie tie-in

The commercial is only the entry point. Dunkin gives fans several ways to participate, from watching Gambit and H.E.R.B.I.E. to choosing a character-inspired drink, collecting a cup sleeve or visiting a transformed restaurant.

That layered design is the marketing lesson. A film partnership can travel across entertainment, product and physical retail, creating multiple encounters with the same story. Whether those encounters produce incremental sales remains unreported, but the campaign clearly extends beyond a logo on packaging.
